Green light for the new Wastewater Discharge Regulation

The Costa Brava Girona Water Consortium has approved the new Wastewater Discharge Regulation (in Catalan), which entered into force on 28 January 2026 following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona. 

Prepared during 2025, the regulation is the result of a public participation process and establishes an updated regulatory framework for discharges into high-level sanitation systems. The regulation strengthens control measures, infrastructure protection and effluent quality, a key aspect in facilitating water reuse.
